Amaechi Has Decamped to APC – Rivers PDP

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the reception given to the leaders of the All Progressives Congress during their visit to Port Harcourt on Tuesday as an indication that the state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and his supporters have long decamped from the PDP.

The state PDP, in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the chairman of the party, Mr. Jerry Needam, said the demand by members of the State House of Assembly that the governor should declare for the APC was a mere camouflage.

It also described the relationship between Amaechi and the APC as a good development that called for thanksgiving by people of goodwill.

"The Rivers State Chapter of the PDP says the open confession and resolve of Governor Chibuike Amaechi and his suspended lawmaker supporters while hosting All Progressives Congress chieftains in Port Harcourt is an eloquent testimony that they had long decamped from the PDP.

"The party notes that the demand on Amaechi by the suspended lawmakers loyal to him and led by Otelemaba Dan Amachree for an immediate declaration for the APC is a mere camouflage to hoodwink Rivers people into believing that they are being wooed to join the party.

"The marriage between Governor Amaechi and his new found love; the APC, is a good development, which calls for thanksgiving by all men and women of goodwill in the state," the statement read.
