Arsenal moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League table as Aaron Ramsey's stunning effort helped see off third-placed Liverpool.
Santi Cazorla fired them ahead when his first-half header came off the post.
Jordan Henderson had an equaliser ruled out, before Ramsey continued his impressive form with an unstoppable shot from 20 yards after the break, reports the BBC.
Liverpool's Luis Suarez struck the outside of the post, but the Gunners held firm to stretch their league lead.
And in earlier games, Manchester City highlighted their credentials as title contenders with an emphatic win over lacklustre Norwich, while their city rivals, United also triumphed, beating Fulham 3-1.
Focus prior to the City game had been on goalkeeper Joe Hart being dropped but once play got under way, City's attacking prowess took centre stage.
Bradley Johnson's own goal put City ahead before David Silva, Matija Nastasic and Alvaro Negredo struck.
Yaya Toure scored a free kick, Sergio Aguero fired in before substitute Edin Dezko swept home a seventh.
And in London Manchester United scored three goals in 13 minutes to blow Fulham away and heap pressure on under-fire boss Martin Jol.
Antonio Valencia had an easy finish early on after Wayne Rooney's cutback.
Robin van Persie became the leading Dutch goalscorer in the Premier League by rifling in at the near post before Rooney tapped in after 22 minutes.
Fulham responded via Alex Kacanicklic's deflected shot and although Darren Bent also hit the bar, Fulham suffered their third loss in five home games.
And West Brom condemned Crystal Palace to a seventh successive league defeat as they withstood the visitors' second-half revival at the Hawthorns.
Saido Berahino calmly fired the hosts ahead just before the break after taming Stephane Sessegnon's low cross.
But Mile Jedinak headed wide when well placed before Marouane Chamakh's miscontrolled shot almost trickled in.
Gareth McAuley headed in to snuff out Palace's hopes though, before Boaz Myhill denied Yannick Bolasie late on.
